Absolutely love the decor in this place! It would have taken me far too long to read every book on display but they're all iconic.
The themed menu was superb and very amusing! My favourites were 'Fahrenheit 451' and 'Maybe in Another Life' (the drinks, not necessarily the books)!
I'll be sure to come back for the vibe of the place and some fun with Scrabble!
('All the Seas of the World' is the blue drink in the pictures; the 'Fahrenheit 451' is the aptly orange, fiery looking one; 'Maybe in Another Life' is the red, cherry drink)
We came here for a cocktail-making class and did the Ernest Hemingway theme. The barkeep did an amazing job telling us about Ernest Hemingway's life and teaching us how to make various cocktails. We learned the difference between shaken and stirred drinks, learned what goes into making different liqueurs, and got to try a good variety of drinks (most of which were delicious and not the usual go-to's). We left pretty buzzed by the end, but I definitely appreciated the class, as it was entertaining and informative. Would recommend!
We had “the shadow of the wind,” which was light and refreshing, “Everyone brave is forgiven,” which was a flavor eruption, and “The house of spirits,” which was our favorite, leaving a nice linger for the aftertaste, and “Fahrenheit 451” which was okay. I would definitely recommend the brave one.
The atmosphere is cozy and not pretentious hipster. It would have been five stars if only the staff had let us take the table we wanted. I'm not too fond of it when the staff tells you where to sit. We came here when it was a blizzard outside, so it was clear it won't be a full house - why don't you let customers pick their sitting?
Visited there with a friend after dinner.
We got a couple of great cocktails. It wasn't crowded. Very nice and quiet atmosphere.
The drinks were perfect.
I would definitely go back again.
I loved this place. The decor was so cozy and the staff was really nice. The cocktails are a bit small, but they tasted great. If I lived closer, I'd be here frequently, enjoying a book and a drink.
If you’re into books and reading then this is the cocktail bar for you. The book themed cocktail menu is interesting and from what I’ve heard, they update the menu once in a while. I really liked the Seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo cocktail. Every other drink I had was pretty good too.
Love the cozy and intimate experience. We were a fairly large group and everyone ordered a different cocktail. Not a single one disappointed us. Definitely recommend going.
Had a really nice time here! Very cozy and comfortable seating area and the service was wonderful.
We ordered several drinks and all of them were wonderfully crafted and delicious but my favourite by far was the “the house of spirits”. This drink was very refreshing and flavourful and left a very nice aftertaste. Would recommend this bar to any bibliophiles 😊
